Rick Lohre: From Commercial to Fine Art Aerial Photography
Hello, I'm Rick Lohre, and my photographic journey has recently taken a interesting turn. With over 30 years of photography experience, including a strong presence in commercial and advertising photography, I've now embarked on an exciting path, specializing in Fine Art Photography.
Aerial Visions: Cincinnati, Europe, and the Notre Dame Connection
Having once focused on commercial and advertising photography, my lens has a new focus to capture the world from a different angle. I've been particularly drawn to aerial photography, a medium that allows me to create evocative fine art prints from unique perspectives rarely seen.
With a background in flying and operating remotely controlled aircraft, I began to craft custom drones from scratch in 2006, then moving into piloting light aircraft and helicopters shortly after, it all took a natural path to capturing images from above.

My aerial photography captures the city's architectural marvels, winding river, and vibrant neighborhoods from a perspective that unveils its hidden beauty. European Elegance
My lens captures the vivid tapestry of Europe's history and its multifaceted landscapes. Over the years, my journeys have taken me to more than 75 European cities and 15 European countries, allowing me to explore a wide range of captivating destinations. Whether it's the romantic canals of Venice, the timeless charm of Paris, or the breathtaking vistas of the Swiss Alps, my fine art aerial prints provide a unique perspective, transporting you to the heart of Europe's most enchanting locales.
The Notre Dame Legacy
South Bend, Indiana, holds a special place in my heart, and much of my aerial photography celebrates the beauty of it's centerpiece, the University of Notre Dame, with its storied traditions and iconic landmarks. The campus of the Fighting Irish takes center stage in my work. My fine art prints pay homage to this institution, capturing its beauty and significance from a fresh, elevated perspective.
